Why Choose a Certified CBT Specialist?

When seeking treatment for OCD and related disorders, anxiety disorders, or PTSD, working with a highly trained specialist matters. Effective treatment requires precise, evidence-based protocols. My practice is built on advanced credentials vetted by the most respected CBT boards and institutions in the field:

ABPP Board Certification: I am Board Certified in Behavioral and Cognitive Psychology by the American Board of Professional Psychology. This means a national panel of senior specialists has thoroughly scrutinized and verified my clinical work, case conceptualizations, and treatment of complex behavioral patterns.

Dual Certified CBT Clinician: I hold formal clinical certifications from both the Beck Institute (the international home of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) and the Academy of Cognitive and Behavioral Therapies (A-CBT). These rigorous certifications ensure true mastery of the behavioral and cognitive models necessary to dismantle anxiety and trauma loops and create new and helpful patterns.

What This Means for You: When we work together on your problems and goals, I use the gold standard of scientific research and top-tier clinical excellence to guide your treatment. We won't just talk about your problems; we will actively map how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviors maintain them. Using precise, proven interventions—such as Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) for OCD and specialized trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapies—we will collaborate to build practical, sustainable tools that empower you to face your fears, break old patterns, and improve your quality of life.

Additional work experience

For more than a decade, I have served as faculty and clinical supervisor at the world-renowned Beck Institute for Cognitive Behavior Therapy, where I train clinicians worldwide. My teaching emphasizes process-based CBT, competency-based supervision, and culturally informed practice. I also supervise psychiatry residents at Jefferson/Lehigh Valley Health Network, providing supervision and advanced instruction in CBT and supportive psychotherapy since 2021.

I have conducted workshops and invited presentations across Latin America, Europe, and the United States, including Brazil, Panama, Costa Rica, Spain, and Venezuela. My most recent presentations include Written Exposure Therapy, culturally responsive CBT, virtual reality exposure therapy, and optimizing exposure-based CBT.

I have held academic appointments for more than twenty years. I was a Clinical Assistant Professor at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, where I taught CBT conceptualization, intervention, and professional development. Earlier in my career, I served as Professor and Chair of the Clinical Psychology Master’s Program at Universidad Rafael Urdaneta in Maracaibo, Venezuela, and Universidad Católica Andrés Bello in Caracas, Venezuela.
